Position Purpose The Continuing Resources Librarian will lead Dartmouth Libraries’ management and administration of access to ongoing scholarly resources across evolving modalities through efficient and sustainable workflows. The librarian supervises the continuing resources team, leads the library-wide serials and standing order processes, coordinates the lifecycle and acquisition of streaming media, supports open and transformative access, and assists with electronic resources management in collaboration with the Electronic Resources Librarian. In partnership with subject librarians, the Continuing Resources Librarian uses data-informed methods to identify strategic, cost-efficient ways to provide access to or acquire continuing resources. This is a hybrid work location eligible position.
Description and Responsibilities Leads on acquiring and making discoverable continuing resources (serials, standing orders, audiovisual, etc.) for Dartmouth Libraries and manages the continuing resource lifecycle from purchase through cancellation. Percentage of Time: 50%
In collaboration with the Electronic Resources Librarian, assists in managing all aspects of the electronic resources lifecycle (procurement, setup, troubleshooting, assessment, cancellation, post-cancellation, etc.) with particular focus on continuing and streaming resources. Percentage of Time: 15%
Maintains records in various systems for inventory control and bibliographic control; analyzes inventory to monitor usage patterns and trends. Percentage of Time: 15%
Engages professionally to stay current on trends in electronic resource management and emerging technologies; participates in users’ groups and open-source communities to maintain updated systems knowledge and improve workflows. Percentage of Time: 5%
Other duties as assigned; demonstrates commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications.
Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, or equivalent advanced degree from an ALA-accredited or equivalent program
Two years of serials or electronic resources management experience
Knowledge of current trends in Electronic Resource Management
Knowledge and experience with electronic resources standards such as COUNTER, KBART, and SUSHI
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to adapt to a changing information landscape and manage competing priorities
Demonstrated commitment to professional development
Preferred Qualifications Experience with large-scale serials renewals processes and with serials agencies/vendors
Ability to lead staff and develop efficient workflows in support of strategic goals
Two years of supervisory experience
Experience with integrated library systems, preferably Ex Libris Alma
Experience managing streaming media purchases, access, and holdings
