Position Overview
Library Specialist I, part‑time 24 hours per week, no benefits. Minimum hourly pay $18.00, commensurate with experience. Regular evenings and weekends as needed. Reports to the Coordinator of Learning Resources. Provides circulation and basic reference services.
Responsibilities
- Interacting with patrons professionally, effectively, and courteously.
- Using the Integrated Library System (Alma) to perform circulation duties.
- Shelving and maintaining reference, reserve, circulating, and periodical materials accurately.
- Informing patrons of library policies.
- Instructing patrons in the use of the library catalog (Primo).
- Managing patron accounts (debts, etc.).
- Informing patrons about Intercampus and Interlibrary Loan services.
- Assisting with course and patron reserve materials.
- Efficiently logging newspapers and magazines.
- Making RCC ID badges.
- Assisting students with applicable software applications.
- Opening and closing the library when necessary.
- Working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Occasional travel to other campuses.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Experience with a variety of computer applications and software.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies.
- Accurate, detail‑oriented, and timely performance of duties.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Knowledge of alpha‑numeric shelving systems.
- Basic knowledge of library operations and procedures.
- Prior library work experience.
Additional Considerations
Occasional travel to other campus locations may be required.
