Description
The Circulation Supervisor at Camarillo Public Library plays a key leadership role in ensuring smooth, efficient, and patron-focused circulation operations. This position oversees the daily functions of the circulation department, supervises and supports circulation staff, coordinates scheduling, and helps maintain a high standard of customer service for all library visitors.
The Circulation Supervisor is responsible for the accurate handling of library materials and patron accounts, including check-ins, check-outs, renewals, holds, and fines. This role also provides training, coaching, and ongoing support to staff, helps resolve patron questions and concerns, and monitors circulation procedures, records, and reports to ensure accuracy and consistency.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
Provides customer service to patrons by greeting and assisting patrons in all areas of the library.
Supervise junior Library Associates which includes managing performance, evaluation, interview/hiring, training and approving timesheets.
Work closely with Librarians and library management to plan, implement and promote programming activities.
Processes newly acquired library materials, including all identifying stamps, labels, RIDF and covers.
Inform library patrons of rules of conduct as necessary, and enforce those rules when appropriate.
Maintain circulation records and performs routine circulation duties as needed.
Assist with library opening and closing procedures.
Support reference desks in assisting patrons with questions.
Effective listening and problem‑solving skills, excellent planning and organizational skills.
Ability to embrace change, along with the ability to strategize.
Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
H.S. Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
3 years customer service experience preferred.
1 year supervisory experience preferred.
Proficiency with library systems and databases.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Mulitlingual speaking is a plus.
A high degree of proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings, and weekends.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves.
Lift/push up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
