Library Associate – Mobile Unit
Location: Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library, Montgomery County, VA

Job Type: Part‑time (20 hours per week)

The Montgomery‑Floyd Regional Library System is seeking a dedicated, friendly, and customer‑focused individual to join our team as a Library Associate. This position plays a key role in connecting the community to library services and materials by staffing and driving the Mobile Library.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate the mobile library in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and procedures.

Provide direct patron assistance at mobile library stops.

Shelve materials and maintain organization of the mobile library.

Offer Reader’s Advisory and library reference services in compliance with standard professional practices.

Use library databases and reference materials to respond to patron requests.

Assist patrons with the use of library equipment and services, including digital access and e‑books.

Assist with planning and implementing library programming and outreach based out of the Mobile Library.

Perform significant outdoor work at mobile library stops; occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent; library experience preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.

A valid Virginia Driver’s License in good standing.

Commitment to background check, drug screening (including THC), and DMV screening.

Compensation: Starting salary $17.45 per hour, plus benefits.
