Security Officer – Motion Picture Studios (part‑time 17.5 hours/week) This position provides security for the Motion Picture Studios (MPS) and surrounding areas by patrolling for risks, enforcing university policies, and supporting emergency response efforts. The role works closely with BYU Police to address suspicious or criminal activity and helps ensure the safety of people and property through monitoring and response.
What You’ll Do In This Position Patrol and inspect MPS facilities and surrounding areas for security risks
Enforce university security policies and procedures
Identify suspicious or criminal behavior and coordinate with BYU Police
Assist sworn officers and respond to calls for service
Initiate and support emergency response efforts
Monitor and operate electronic and physical security systems
Maintain shift coverage as assigned
Required What qualifies you for this role:
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
High school diploma or GED
U.S. citizen
Valid Utah driver\'s license with a clean record
Ability to pass a thorough background investigation
Ability to meet physical fitness standards
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge of basic security practices and emergency response procedures
Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in high‑pressure situations
Preferred Previous security or law enforcement experience
Supervisory or field training experience

Typical Starting Pay: $18.75 to $23.75 an hour
