PT Information Specialist: Tourism Media Distribution

Tourism Information Specialist Part Time This employee will perform a variety of jobs assisting the Executive Director of the Wilson Visitors Center. Employees perform an array of ongoing work functions that include a diversity of records, reports and filing activities, Research, statistics and public contact, office equipment operation, composition, and other general office duties. Deliver media and Visitor's guides to hotels and various locations within the city and county. Employees work in a range of different environments and may work individually or in combination with other office support or administrative employees.
Employees will perform an assortment of tasks and work directly with the Executive Director of the Wilson Visitors Center. The majority of time is spent working with newcomers, visitors, tour buses, the meetings market and hoteliers in Wilson County. Work involves providing assistance to staff, service recipients, other organizational units and the public in resolving problems or inquiries. Work requires a significant knowledge of Wilson community or all Wilson events and attractions. You must be good at communicating to the public and provide information or literature involving the Wilson community. Employees may provide input into the development of new guidelines or creative approaches to a new problem or inquiry. Telephone communications is a must, computer skills with Excel, Word and Google knowledge is helpful.
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. Significant knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports and other materials. Ability to apply sentence and grammatical structure to independently compose and format materials in established guidelines.
