Job Description

The Louisiana Office of Tourism's vision is to market and promote the brand of Feed Your Soul showcasing Louisiana as a travel destination, increasing revenue generated by the tourism industry and contributing to the economic impact of tourism in all 64 parishes. The Office of Tourism partners with tourism professionals and industry stakeholders in private and public sectors to extend and enhance their efforts to reach domestic and international consumers and travel trade.
We are seeking a reliable Custodian (WAE) to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of our facilities on an as-needed basis. This position is responsible for routine cleaning, basic maintenance tasks, and ensuring a sanitary environment for staff and visitors. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
Perform custodial duties to maintain a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for visitors at the Welcome Center
Clean and service restrooms, offices, hallways, and outdoor areas (including adjacent sidewalks) using appropriate equipment and techniques
Empty, disinfect, and properly dispose of trash, including infectious waste in compliance with regulations
Identify and address minor safety hazards; report maintenance and safety concerns to supervisor
Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking brochure materials as needed
Monitor facility conditions and report repair needs related to building systems (HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, etc.)
Safely perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds and using ladders
Maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency availability
Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and strong customer service skills

Appointment Type:

This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12 month period.
Work Schedule:

16-24 Hours weekly. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed and be available on weekends and holidays.
Location: Kentwood Welcome Center in Kentwood, LA.
