Job Title: ELEMENTARY MUSIC TEACHER 1.0 FTE
Provide a comprehensive and engaging choral music program that develops students’ vocal technique, musicianship, and music appreciation. This role emphasizes inspiring and motivating students through developmentally appropriate, integrated instruction, the effective use of technology, collaboration with families and staff, and the strategic use of community resources to enhance and promote the district’s music education program.
Qualifications
Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate, JQ Endorsement (required)
Experience teaching elementary school students (preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge of vocal music pedagogy, choral instruction, and age-appropriate instructional strategies
Experience in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) & Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS)
Essential Functions
Ability to plan and deliver instruction aligned with choral music standards for elementary students
Ability to be enthusiastic, flexible, and work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
Ability to use technology to support instruction, rehearsal, assessment, and communication
Willingness to lead the 4th and 5th grade choir, providing students with an engaging and enriching music education experience
Ability to assess student performance and adjust instruction based on assessment data
Ability to use the piano or a comparable instrument as needed for instruction
Ability to plan, rehearse, and conduct high-quality choral performances
Knowledge of instructional practices for varied learning styles and individual student needs
Successful classroom management strategies and skills
Ability to differentiate instruction
Ability to teach subject content in an integrated manner
Ability to understand, value, and positively respond to the unique developmental traits of elementary school students
Ability to organize instructional materials, performances, and classroom activities
Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
Willingness and ability to promote the arts throughout the District
Ability to identify and use school and community resources to enhance instruction and program visibility within the District
Willingness and commitment to participate in curriculum development, school improvement committees, and professional development
Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
Ability to complete other duties as assigned
