Security Clearance:
Applicant must be eligible to hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance

Responsibilities:
Under supervision provide support to clients developing and maintaining U.S. Navy surface ships systems and associated subsystems. Provide production and testing support including engineering support for hull, mechanical and electrical systems; total ship engineering; ship surveillance; and all types of waterfront engineering and inspections. Review shipbuilder work packages, conduct photo documentation, develop databases allowing searches for key information in written correspondence. Review drawings, Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), waterfront changes, work items, design reviews, Condition Reports and trial cards.
Review initial designs, developments, and analysis of new ships and/or ship systems.

Assist in development of designs for current and conceptualized ships, systems, and equipment. Evaluate designs for feasibility.

Review ECP packages for completeness and provide recommendations

Assess compliance with regulatory standards and Ship Specifications

Interfaces with stakeholders and cross functional teams to ensure necessary resources are available for ship/system.

Supports production design and construction oversight and review processes to ensure compliance with product specifications.

Research new technology and/or development tools to remain informed of current technology.

Assist with requirements management and support customer research requests efficiently and thoroughly.

Travel Requirement ~10%

Engage in business development activities as required to sustain and grow customer base.

Experience Requirements:
Experience in ship design, marine engineering, ocean engineering or naval architecture often gained through maritime school education or similar background desired.

Experience working with ship and ship system design principles and practices.

Familiarity with maritime fuel, lubrication and hydraulic oil systems, refrigeration systems (HVAC), compressed air systems, auxiliary shipboard systems, and piping systems desired.

Experience with Main Propulsion Diesel Engines and associated equipment.

Experience working with applicable regulatory, commercial, and military standards and classification of society rules desired.

Experience working with shipyards or a marine engineering internship a plus.

Knowledge of NAVSEA acquisition program and processes required.

DAU certification and SNAME/ASNE membership will receive extra consideration.

Applicants must be highly skilled in both oral and written communications and be capable of productive and efficient work.

Applicants must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture, ocean engineering, mechanical engineering, marine engineering, systems engineering (ABET-Accredited), or a related discipline plus at least 2 years of relevant work experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 7 years of applicable work experience.Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology.
