Technical Project Director Job at Innovated Studios in Orlando
Innovated Studios, Orlando, FL, United States
Location & Work Style
This role is based in Orlando, FL and is 100% on-site. We expect this person to work closely with the team in-office and on-site during builds, testing, and installations. Occasional evening, weekend, and travel requirements may occur around key installs.
The Role
We are looking for a Technical Project Director who can own complex projects end to end, from early concept and scoping through deployment and post-launch support. This is not a coordination-only role. It is a hands‑on leadership role that combines project ownership, technical execution, and client‑facing responsibility across immersive environments, interactive systems, and production builds.
Who You Are
You own outcomes. You have led projects where the stakes were real: timelines mattered, systems had to work, and clients expected results. You are comfortable moving between planning and hands‑on execution. You communicate clearly with clients and internal teams, and you do not wait for problems to escalated—you identify and solve them early.
What You’ll Do
- Lead projects end to end: scoping, planning, execution, installation, and post‑launch support.
- Own project scope, schedule, and delivery with accountability for timelines and quality.
- Translate creative direction and client goals into clear technical plans and production roadmaps.
- Stay hands‑on with system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and on‑site implementation.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, partners, and vendors.
- Lead internal teams and external partners with clear expectations, direction, and accountability.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and scope gaps early, and drive solutions before they impact delivery.
- Maintain clear project documentation: technical specs, timelines, change tracking, and decisions.
- Required Experience
- 5–10+ years in technical production, systems integration, AV, interactive technology, or themed entertainment.
- Proven experience managing complex, multi‑disciplinary projects with direct client interaction.
- Strong project management skills: scoping, scheduling, prioritization, and risk management.
- Hands‑on technical experience with system integration and interactive or real‑world environments.
- Experience working in on‑site production environments, installs, or live systems.
- Strong communication skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead teams, set direction, and drive accountability across contributors.
Nice to Have
- Experience in experiential marketing, attractions, themed entertainment, or live events.
- Familiarity with real‑time tools such as TouchDesigner, Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar.
- Understanding of hardware systems: displays, sensors, networking, and control systems.
What Success Looks Like
- You can take a project from concept to deployment with minimal oversight.
- You deliver projects on time while maintaining quality and technical integrity.
- You proactively resolve risks before they impact timelines or client expectations.
- You establish strong client trust through clear communication and reliable delivery.
- You improve team coordination, documentation, and execution across projects.
How We Work
- Small teams, high ownership, and minimal bureaucracy.
- We value speed, but never at the expense of reliability and execution quality.
- Clear communication with clients, partners, and internal teams.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, sick time, STD, LTD, vacation time, and paid holidays.
