
Interior Design Project Manager

Heather Hilliard Design is seeking an experienced Interior Design Project Manager to join our San Francisco–based studio. This intermediate-level role is ideal for a detail-oriented, strategic thinker with a strong design sensibility and proven project management experience in high-end residential interiors.
You will partner closely with the Studio Director to manage multiple residential projects from concept through final installation—both in-state and out-of-state—ensuring exceptional quality, accuracy, and client experience at every stage.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Studio Director and design team on programming, design development, decoration, and space planning
Produce drawings including plans, elevations, and custom furniture designs using AutoCAD
Manage project budgets, schedules, and overall workflow
Prepare presentations, mood boards, and rendered elevations using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Develop detailed FF&E specifications and documentation for architects and contractors
Request and evaluate vendor quotes; propose furnishings and materials
Coordinate with custom workrooms, fabricators, and furnishings showrooms
Track and report project status; proactively follow up to resolve issues
Oversee projects from concept through installation, ensuring design intent, quality, and accuracy

Strong project management and interior design expertise
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work discreetly with high-profile clients
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Self-starter with the ability to take direction while working independently
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Architecture & Design or Architecture
5–10 years of experience in a high-end residential interior design firm, in a project manager/designer role
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Deep knowledge of materials, fabrics, finishes, custom furnishings, millwork, and specifications
Extensive familiarity with San Francisco Bay Area design trade sources and showrooms
Knowledge of sources in NYC, LA, and Europe is a plus
Ability to work under deadlines in a busy, creative environment
Valid driver’s license and access to a car (or car share) for site visits, showrooms, and vendor locations
Onsite, office-based role with in-person design presentations
Regular visits to showrooms, workrooms, warehouses, and project sites
Occasional travel for out-of-state projects
Candidates must live in the San Francisco Bay Area
