Job Title: Manufacturing Design Instructor

Reports To: Director, Instructional Services

Contract: 10-month

SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Design Instructor is responsible for delivering hands‑on instruction in CAD, drafting, and design across architectural, civil, interior, landscape, and manufacturing applications using industry‑standard software such as AutoCAD. The instructor will teach students to interpret blueprints and develop technical drawings and models that reflect real‑world practices in design, construction, engineering, and manufacturing industries. This role prepares students for postsecondary education and careers by building skills in precision, spatial reasoning, problem‑solving, and modern design technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide instruction in CAD, drafting, and design using industry‑standard software such as AutoCAD across architectural, civil, interior, landscape, and manufacturing design applications, while integrating both technical and soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and professionalism.

Advise and support the program CTSO (SkillsUSA), including preparing students for competitions, facilitating leadership development opportunities, and aligning classroom instruction with state and national competition standards.

Collaborate with an active advisory committee composed of industry professionals, parents/guardians, former students, and partner school teachers to ensure curriculum alignment with current industry needs and workforce expectations.

Support student career readiness by assisting with employability skills development, including resume building, interview preparation, workplace behavior, and potential job placement opportunities.

Conduct consistent follow‑up and tracking of all students to monitor progress, post‑program outcomes, and transitions into postsecondary education or employment.

Collaborate with educational services personnel to support student academic success, attendance, behavior, and postsecondary planning by sharing relevant information, participating in intervention strategies, and ensuring coordinated support for student needs including the Career Resource Center and Math Specialist.

Support students in earning industry‑recognized credentials by providing targeted instruction, exam preparation, and access to certification opportunities aligned with manufacturing design, CAD, and related industry standards.

Maintain a structured and professional classroom environment by consistently enforcing school and program discipline policies, addressing student behavior proactively, and promoting a safe, respectful, and productive learning atmosphere.

Maintain accurate student attendance records and ensure timely preparation and submission of all required reports in compliance with the State Department of CareerTech and local school district guidelines and deadlines.

Participate in staff development and professional organizations to enhance instructional effectiveness and support student success.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Drafting/Design, or a closely related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and significant industry experience in architectural, civil, interior, landscape, or manufacturing design.

Required Experience: Demonstrated professional experience in industry‑related design work, including proficiency with AutoCAD and other CAD software used in architectural, civil, or manufacturing environments. Strong background in industry practices, standards, and workflows related to design, drafting, and manufacturing processes.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportions to practical situations.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Eligible to receive an Oklahoma State Department of Education teaching certification.

Reasoning Ability and Communication: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret varied instructions and provide clear communication. Strong collaboration and classroom management skills focused on student success and workforce preparation.

Soft Skills and Application: Ability to integrate academic knowledge with real‑world application, soft skills development, and career readiness training.

Salary: $59,870 to $78,870 Per Year
