Salary Range: $92,841 to $120,696

Responsibilities
To serve as a Visual Information Specialist with responsibility for the original design and production of a wide variety of images for complex printed or web-based material, exhibits, and briefings to maintain mutual communication with internal and external publics. Productions are characterized by their uniqueness, involving multiple media or individual visual components. The work requires an extensive knowledge of the principles and techniques of visual design and public affairs.

Qualifications

Obtain & maintain appropriate security clearance.

Be able to stand/sit at a workstation for long periods. Be able to transport, set up equipment and/or graphic display materials or other products as required. The work requires good eyesight, color discrimination and manual dexterity.

Knowledge of a wide range of visual communication, still and video imagery, illustration, design, layout principles, and concepts for the conception, planning, and execution of a variety of complex projects.

Knowledge of graphic arts and media, perspective, layout, balance and contrast, color science, mixing and application, standard drawing practices and instruments.

Knowledge of the operations, products, services, needs, and goals of programs and other organizations serviced, and related customers, functions, resources, and users.

Skill in methods and procedures for operating a variety of visual information equipment in the production and reproduction of artwork, photos, video, and typography.

Skill in incorporating visual products into a variety of communication tools and merge written objectives with still, video, and graphic imagery into a single product supporting public affairs messages.

Ability to present subject matter information in a visual form to convey an intended message or to achieve a desired effect upon a specific audience and to communicate ideas concerning visual media both orally and written with tact and diplomacy.

Other Significant Facts Pertaining to This Position

May be required to perform periodic weekly 24‑hour alert duty as the public affairs on‑call representative to respond to inquiries/requests after duty hours, and/or to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.

This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).
