Clinic Nurse
Under the supervision of a physician and/or office nurse, provides nursing care in a clinic environment. Directs patients to exam rooms and prepares appropriate equipment and resources in the provision of clinic services and care. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens I.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Arrive to the office no later than 30 minutes prior to first patient arrival.
- Direct patient flow to and from exam rooms and lab.
- Record vital signs, current complaint and pertinent history.
- Recheck all information sheets for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist the provider in the exam/ treatment of patients, including injections and other procedures by physician order or standing order.
- May perform in-clinic lab tests or draw blood for outside laboratory tests.
- Provide patient education as directed by provider.
- Document all patient contact.
- Prepare exam rooms and instruments as appropriate to anticipated utilization including cleaning and sterilizing of instruments.
- File reports in charts; log notes in electronic record.
- Order and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
- Communicate with patients by phone, including screening phone calls for providers, answering patient question to his/her ability, calling patients as needed for rechecks or with lab results.
- Maintain the clinic's inventory of drugs and biologicals in keeping with the Clinical Operational Procedures.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Presents strong public relations skills.
- Maintain a courteous, mature and friendly disposition at all times.
- Keeps abreast of changes in policies and laws regarding billing.
- Follows safety guidelines and policies for DHCHD.
- Any other assignments as assigned by clinic director.
Job Qualifications
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Job Related Skills: Possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand medical records and procedures and to communicate effectively with patients and other staff.
- Licensure, Registry or Certification: CNA, LVN or RN preferred.
- Experience: Experience in medical office or clinic setting preferred. CPR certification required.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 40 pounds.
