The Host is responsible for managing the first and last impressions of the guest experience. This role sets the tone for service by welcoming guests with professionalism, warmth, and confidence while coordinating reservations and seating to support smooth service flow.

Hosts at Walker Hotel are expected to maintain a polished, composed presence, communicate clearly, and protect the guest experience through strong organization and situational awareness in a hotel-driven environment.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to: Restaurant Management

Works closely with: Servers, Bartenders, Expo, and FOH Leadership

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Welcome & Experience
Hosts establish the tone of the dining experience and manage guest expectations.

Greet guests promptly and professionally with a warm, confident approach

Manage guest flow and waiting guests with discretion and clear communication

Provide accurate wait times and set expectations for seating and pacing

Support guest recovery by notifying management promptly when issues arise

Reservations, Seating & Flow Management
Hosts coordinate seating to support balanced service and a consistent guest experience.

Manage reservations and walk‑ins accurately using the property’s reservation tools

Coordinate seating to balance server sections and support service pacing

Monitor table status, turn times, and dining room flow to reduce bottlenecks

Communicate table readiness and pacing needs to FOH team members

Communication & Coordination
Hosts serve as a key communication point between guests and the service team.

Answer phones, direct inquiries, and relay accurate information to guests and staff

Communicate guest notes and special requests (as applicable) to the service team

Coordinate with the bar regarding bar seating and guest flow as needed

Maintain calm, professional communication during high‑volume periods

Standards, Organization & Professionalism
Hosts maintain a clean, organized, and polished front‑of‑house entry experience.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, menus, and entrance area

Uphold professional appearance and conduct consistent with a hotel environment

Follow established standards for guest greeting, communication, and discretion

Support the dining room presentation by staying engaged and proactive

TRAINING, GROWTH & CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Walker Hotel is committed to developing talent and supporting long‑term career growth. Hosts are expected to participate actively in training, accept coaching, and develop hospitality, communication, and organizational skills that support progression within the operation based on performance and operational needs.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
This is a hospitality role within a hotel restaurant that operates year‑round. Schedules may include a mix of days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Employees are scheduled in accordance with availability approved by management at the time of hire. Schedule needs may vary week to week, and flexibility is important to support overall operations.

ROLE NOTES

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities

Professionalism, composure, and strong communication are essential to success

Hosts work under the direction of management and in close coordination with the FOH team
