VP of Finance

Overview
Bay Colony Search has been retained to hire a VP of Finance for a small, but growing, industrial manufacturer in Baltimore. The role reports to the President and is a strategic partner to him and the private equity sponsor. This is a smaller company with just one other person in Accounting/Finance, so the candidate must be both strategic and tactical and capable of performing journal entries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for month end close functions by preparing journal entries and performing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and maintain annual budgets and multi-year forecasts; analyze budget/forecast variances and financial trends
Ensure effective internal controls and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
Monitor financial covenants of in-debt agreements, prepare quarterly compliance reports, and maintain lender relationships
Oversee daily cash activities and capital distributions
Manage annual financial audit, including developing the audit schedule and interacting with auditors
Present financials to the Board on a quarterly basis
Partner with other leaders to develop and implement process improvements and new technologies to create a more efficient accounting department
Evaluate potential acquisitions and assist with integration if a transaction is completed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree mandatory; Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
8+ years of accounting and finance experience; experience in a small company ( Desire to be part of a smaller company
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Ideally experience with private equity-backed businesses
Ability to be a strategic partner to the CEO
Strong communication skills with the ability to present to a Board
ERP implementation experience
