Senior Medical Editor – Freelance (Hybrid, W2 hourly)
We are seeking a Senior Medical Editor to join our team in either the NYC or CT offices on a hybrid basis. The role is a freelance W2 hourly assignment, providing editorial leadership on medical communication projects.

Responsibilities

Copy edit and proofread medical communication materials for syntax, grammar, spelling, consistency, and adherence to AMA and client‑mandated style guidelines.

Ensure work is delivered consistently with set deadlines.

Collaborate with the science team to verify that all content is factually accurate and supported by credible proof sources.

Alert the Editorial Director of any significant editorial issues.

Maintain and update brand style guides for editorial use.

Follow all internal processes and suggest modifications as necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or science.

3–7 years of experience at a medical communications agency or related industry preferred; strong candidates without medical communication experience may also be considered.

Strong oral and written communication skills with expert knowledge of AMA style.

Well‑organized with the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.

Flexibility to work late and weekends when required.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Comfortable learning new technologies.

Compensation & Benefits
The position is hourly, with compensation ranging from $75 to $100 per hour, depending on location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. We offer a competitive benefits package.
