Data Engineer – AWS (Backend Focus)
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)- open to remote but they would need to work EST
Role Overview
Seeking a hands‑on Data Engineer with strong AWS and backend development experience to build and support cloud‑based data pipelines, analytics solutions, and API‑driven services. This is a delivery‑focused role supporting modern AWS data and backend platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and support AWS‑based data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows (Glue, Lambda)
Transform, model, and optimize data for analytics and reporting use cases
Work with AWS data services including S3, Redshift, Athena, and RDS
Design and build backend services using AWS Lambda and API Gateway (REST APIs)
Support AWS infrastructure and deployments using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with technical and business partners to translate requirements into solutions
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or similar role
Strong hands‑on AWS experience (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Athena, RDS)
Backend/API development experience using AWS Lambda and API Gateway
Advanced SQL and data modeling skills
Programming experience with Python
Ability to work independently in a delivery‑focused contract role
Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
AWS certifications (Data Analytics, Solutions Architect, or Developer)
Experience with Power BI or other BI tools
Proven experience with AWS QuickSight
Experience supporting enterprise or regulated environments
