Hybrid Senior Scrum Master

Crossfire Consulting, New York, NY, United States

Overview
The Scrum Master will support the Product delivery team on their understanding of Agile best practices to effectively manage ***'s Building Energy Usage Portal - a digital product that provides whole-building aggregated usage data for compliance with Local Laws 97 and 84.

Responsibilities

Coach the team on agile practices using the Scrum methodology, facilitate Scrum ceremonies, remove impediments, manage scope, and shield the team from external distractions. Bring together the Product Owner, Business Analysts and IT Business Delivery, External Developer teams, and Data teams, and coordinate and translate between them on build, testing, release, defect and request management activities among others.

Interact with the Agile team by running and enabling Scrum ceremonies and tracking development progress; understand the goals of the features and stories being worked on to aid in unblocking issues and ensure necessary meetings and follow ups are occurring.

Manage story point allocations (not assigning them; that is done by the Dev Manager or by the Developers themselves), maintain the team\'s Azure DevOps board to ensure it is up to date and organized, and ensure the epics, features, and stories/bugs are aligned and updated accordingly. Track capacity to raise when there is excess or to balance resources between teams when the team is falling short.

Report on Sprint burndown, velocity, adherence to story point estimates, release health, defect trends, and track the health and progress of the team; escalate issues to the Product Owner. Create new reports and dashboards as needed, for example, reports showing the number of bugs per Sprint or Feature.

Track user stories to completion by following up with developers daily outside of ceremonies to check progress, assess risk, and clear roadblocks by seeing if the developers have questions or issues and need to talk to the Product team.

Alert the product team to issues hindering development and set up/facilitate meetings until roadblocks are cleared. Also, track stories through Production deployment and work with the Product Owner to understand the Goals, Objectives and Priorities for each sprint and/or program increment and with the Business Analysts (Client) to ensure that all user stories have the right amount of detail and are approved for the current sprint, particularly when a release is on the horizon.

Additional Details
The expectations are that the Scrum Master interacts with the Agile team by running and enabling scrum ceremonies and tracking development progress and must understand the goals of the features and stories being worked on to aid in unblocking issues and ensure necessary meetings and follow ups are occurring.
