This position is located on the OPT website and is an open role requiring practical experience on an ironworking construction site.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble and secure structural supports according to specifications.

Assist with structural steel assembly and installation.

Use tools to adjust and fasten steel beams.

Lift and move heavy equipment and materials with mechanical equipment.

Attach loads using chains, slings, cables, hooks, and related equipment.

Operate rigging equipment manually and securely.

Communicate effectively with the rigging team and crane operator.

Identify crane hand signals and assess load weights for safe lifting.

Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with job‑site requirements.

Actively participate in a strong safety culture.

Recognize safety hazards and risks.

Attend onsite safety meetings.

Follow OPD and client safety policies.

Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite.

Arrive on time, ready for work each day.

Maintain a positive attitude and work well in a team environment.

Physical Demands

Work outdoors in diverse weather including extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevation.

Operate on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes while wearing a harness and lanyard.

Lift and carry objects up to 60 lbs.

Stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day).

Perform climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending as required.

Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and tools.

Basic Qualifications

At least one year of experience as an ironworker helper.

Proficiency with crane hand and verbal signals.

Additional Requirements

Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices.

Wear an approved full‑body harness and lanyard when working on elevated platforms.

Be willing to travel and spend extended periods away from home in remote areas.

Work shifts up to 12 hours per day and up to 7 days per week when project schedules demand.

Meet all physical demands listed above.

Preferred Experience

Experience in a gas plant construction environment.

Two or more years of experience as an ironworker helper.
