JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Supervision Responsibilities:

Lead and direct Maintenance Technicians by scheduling assignments, monitoring progress, providing direction, guidance, and coaching. Ensure assigned work is completed safely, timely, and correctly with all paperwork completed on time and accurately.

Ensure Maintenance personnel are trained in and follow all of Targa’s policies and procedures, including Safety & Environmental policies, Code of Conduct, Human Resources Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Vehicle Maintenance Procedures, and related guidelines prior to performing work.

Attend, participate in, and lead Safety meetings; ensure Maintenance employees attend and participate in Safety meetings and recognize positive Safety behavior.

Lead Safety tailgate meetings to set goals, priorities, and address any concerns.

Ensure Safety training of subordinates is completed in a timely manner and understood and applied in day-to-day work.

Direct and manage all Maintenance personnel’s work and schedules including time off, overtime, and call-outs.

Be responsible for the Safety and well-being of Maintenance employees, leading by example in all aspects of the job and ensuring work is performed safely and accurately.

Oversee housekeeping of assigned work areas; ensure assets are well maintained, clean, and safety equipment is properly maintained.

Oversee upkeep and safe operation of company vehicles and ensure Maintenance employees operate vehicles safely and maintain them prior to work.

Interview, select and hire Maintenance employees for short- or long-term commitments.

Budget, monitor, and control operating expenses.

Spend 85% of time in the field with technicians to ensure work is performed safely and workforce is properly trained.

Foster strong collaboration and relationships with Operations, Field, Measurement, ES&H, Engineering, Commercial, HR, and other departments across Targa.

Technical Responsibilities:

Oversee troubleshooting, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on Caterpillar, Waukesha, and White Superior natural gas engines, Dresser-Rand and Ariel natural gas compressors, and related equipment.

Diagnose routine and non-routine equipment malfunctions through observation, listening, and diagnostic tools to locate causes of trouble.

Establish and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance programs in Maximo to ensure PMs are completed timely.

Audit related work permits and address findings to resolve audit discrepancies.

Oversee contract crews as needed and ensure approvals are received through appropriate channels (e.g., ISNetworld).

Develop long-term reliability improvement solutions based on Maintenance KPIs.

Schedule and execute mock drills.

Support and utilize Maximo to improve equipment reliability and run time.

Procurement responsibilities and fostering prudent buying practices—order only as needed, check inventory first.

Review and approve subordinate Corporate Card statements; timely T&E submittals; receiving with proper documentation; processing before-the-fact POs; timely invoice approvals.

Safety Responsibilities:

Be a strong ambassador for Stop Work Authority.

Conduct field reviews, observe ongoing work, review live permits, and ensure Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures keep equipment in a zero-energy state as applicable.

Provide feedback after observations and address unsafe acts or conditions promptly.

Participate in PSM audits, incident investigations, and PHA revalidations to ensure actions are correct and closable.

Follow up on CPA/PSM/RMP action items to ensure they are closed before due dates.

Conduct Stop Work drills and audit permits and work being performed.

Issue Confined Space and Critical Lift permits as needed.

Inspect perimeter fencing and gates for proper security; ensure gas cylinders are secured and labeled.

Ensure extension cords are used appropriately; perform monthly safety checks on extinguishers, SCBA, safety showers, hoists, signage, ladders, and electrical protections.

Inspect equipment guards and ensure out-of-service equipment is clearly marked.

Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current and Managed Changes (MOCs) are in place for new chemicals.

Inspect secondary containments and electrical grounding; ensure all safety measures are in place and functional.

Environmental Responsibilities:

Promptly report any out-of-compliance conditions or environmental concerns to the Environmental Specialist.

Maintain open communication between Operations and Environmental teams.

Collaborate to monitor permit conditions and track compliance tasks effectively.

Track emissions inventory requirements as directed by the Environmental Specialist.

Review flaring events and blowdown logs for accuracy; communicate facility changes to Environmental Specialists and plan outages accordingly.

Ensure waste is handled properly with Environmental Specialist assistance; address housekeeping issues as they occur.

Ensure AVOs are conducted and paperwork is available; review SPCC plan and monthly inspections and containment drainage records.

Assist with incident investigations and regulatory communications; review air permit applications and Deviation Reports.

Enter records and blowdowns into Maximo or CTS as applicable; keep records in an accessible location.

Ensure engine hours are reported accurately and that control devices are not bypassed.

Check for leaks and initiate repairs via Maximo work orders as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Essential Qualifications:

Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.

Valid driver license required.

Minimum 5 years of work-related experience.

Knowledge of PSM and mechanical drawings, maintenance records, procedures, equipment drawings, and manuals.

Advanced computer skills (Excel, Access, Word) and networking experience.

Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds.

Ability to work in close quarters, kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.

Adherence to PPE guidelines (eye protection, footwear, FR).

Regular, reliable attendance required; ability to respond at all hours in a 24/7 operation.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and self-starting capabilities; ability to work independently or in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of advanced training, schooling, or certificates.

Leadership experience (5+ years) managing complex mechanical and electrical equipment in a leadership role.

Strong understanding of predictive maintenance tools (oil analysis, vibration, trending) and diagnostic tools.

Ability to train others and troubleshoot equipment failures.

Experience with MAXIMO CMS systems in Plant Maintenance Operations.
