What You’ll Do
Working with powerlines requires specialized knowledge of transformers, electrical power distribution systems, and substations.

What You Will Do

Install new lines by constructing utility poles, to carry the wires and cables.

Use a variety of construction equipment, including digger derricks. Digger derricks are trucks equipped with augers and cranes; workers use augers to dig holes in the ground, and cranes are used to set utility poles in place.

String cable along the poles.

Pull up cable from large reels mounted on trucks.

Use hand tools.

Responsible for maintenance of electrical lines.

Linemen must climb and maintain their balance while working on poles. They lift equipment and work in a variety of positions, such as stooping or kneeling. Their work often requires that they drive utility vehicles, and work outdoors under a variety of weather conditions.

What You’ll Bring

HS diploma or GED preferred

2 years of industry experience or formalized technical certificate

Testing Requirements For Hourly Applicants

All hourly applicants must complete the Florida Ready to Work or National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) assessment. A minimum score of 3 in Math, 3 in Reading, and 3 in Data is required to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien.

Applicants must also complete the Florida Ready to Work Soft Skills Assessment and achieve a “Passed” status.

Both certificates (Florida Ready to Work or NCRC and Soft Skills) must be uploaded along with your resume when submitting your application.

These assessments are offered at no cost at any CareerSource office.
