Overview
Social Worker Program Coordinator - Psychosocial Rehabilitation Recovery Center (PRRC) at the NWI VA Health Care System, Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. This position provides outpatient mental health programming and services for Veterans based on the psychiatric rehabilitation recovery model.
Responsibilities
Serve as the Program Coordinator and Supervisor for the PRRC, including facilitating staff meetings, overseeing consult management, assigning intake assessments and case management duties, ensuring patient/staff safety, and evaluating the environment of care.
Provide administrative, clinical, and technical supervision to assigned staff; set priorities and make assignments according to staff capabilities.
Manage daily operations of the PRRC; develop policies and procedures for program operations; maintain data tracking and utilization of mental health services; prepare reports and statistics as requested.
Ensure readiness and compliance with standards set by Joint Commission, OIG, OHMO, and other accrediting bodies identified by Executive Leadership.
Develop training plans aligned with employee needs and address those needs; balance workload and distribute tasks; ensure timely accomplishment of tasks and employee involvement in final products.
Deliver evidence-based interventions through PRRC staff; coordinate facilitation of PRRC groups and update group curriculum to meet Veterans needs.
Provide clinical supervision as a field instructor or preceptor; supervise social work graduate students, unlicensed social workers, and social work associates; resolve employee complaints and disciplinary issues as appropriate.
Identify areas for program expansion and improvement; develop initiatives to address identified needs.
Provide direct screening and case management services to Veterans within PRRC; complete biopsychosocial evaluations and document in CPRS per center policies.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005.
Education: Master’s degree in social work from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Licensure/Certification: Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master’s level; ability to supervise for licensure where required.
Experience/Grade Determinations: GS-12 level requires one year of experience at GS-11 level with advanced practice skills; eligible for supervision responsibilities and program coordination duties.
Other requirements: Eligibility for supervision in the state of licensure; ability to provide/obtain documentation for licensure and continuing education as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Ability to coordinate and administer programs; write policies or practice guidelines; supervise multidisciplinary staff; organize work and meet deadlines; provide training and guidance in clinical practice; demonstrate KSAs in the application materials.
Additional requirements include understanding of program operations, policy development, and ability to respond to questions from team members with guidance from the Chief, Mental Health Service on major problems and issues.
