**Job Title: Painter and Body Work Technician**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on industrial painting and body work for trailer units, including surface preparation, priming, and finishing using spray equipment in a paint booth environment. You will work on the first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and are expected to work overtime as needed. The position is well suited for individuals with experience in auto body shops, car mechanic environments, or industrial painting settings who are comfortable wearing protective gear and working with fresh air breathing apparatus systems.
**Responsibilities**
+ Prepare trailer units for painting by thoroughly cleaning all areas using a shot blast gun and hose.
+ Prime and paint all areas of the trailer unit using spray guns and paint guns, ensuring high-quality coverage and finish.
+ Operate and maintain spray guns, paint guns, and other hand tools required for industrial painting and body work.
+ Work inside a paint booth while wearing appropriate protective equipment, including hood and air suits and a fresh air breathing apparatus.
+ Follow established painting and blasting procedures in the proper sequence to achieve consistent and durable finishes.
+ Inspect surfaces before and after painting to ensure proper preparation, adhesion, and overall quality of the work.
+ Perform basic polishing and finishing tasks to meet quality standards and customer expectations.
+ Use problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address issues related to paint application, equipment performance, and surface preparation.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the paint booth and blasting area, in accordance with safety and housekeeping standards.
+ Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with medical clearance requirements for fresh air breathing apparatus use.
**Essential Skills**
+ Ability to wear and work safely with a fresh air breathing apparatus for extended periods.
+ Ability to pass a medical clearance required for using a fresh air breathing apparatus.
+ Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a hands-on, industrial or mechanical environment.
+ Experience using spray guns and paint guns for industrial or auto body painting.
+ Ability to perform industrial painting and blasting tasks, including surface preparation using shot blast equipment.
+ Capability to work a first shift schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with overtime as required.
+ Comfort working in a paint booth environment while wearing protective hood and air suits.
+ Proficiency with basic hand tools used in painting, body work, and surface preparation.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Preferred prior painting or blasting experience in an industrial, auto body, or similar environment.
+ Background in an auto body shop, car mechanic atmosphere, or industrial finishing is highly beneficial.
+ Experience with industrial painting processes, including paint prep, finishing, and polishing.
+ Familiarity with operating in a paint booth and following standard operating procedures for coating applications.
+ Ability to participate in and successfully complete an on-site interview and practical assessment, if required.

**Work Environment**
The work environment is an industrial production setting focused on painting and finishing trailer units. You will work primarily on the first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with overtime expected based on production needs. Daily tasks take place in and around a paint booth and blasting area, using technologies and equipment such as spray guns, paint guns, shot blast guns and hoses, and various hand tools for paint prep, finishing, polishing, and blasting. The role requires wearing protective hood and air suits as well as a fresh air breathing apparatus, and you must obtain medical clearance to use this equipment. The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and safety-conscious, with clear procedures for surface preparation, priming, and painting to ensure consistent, high-quality finishes on all trailer units.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Haleyville, AL.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $27.40 - $27.40/hr.
