Job Overview
Temporary part‑time non‑exempt position at Bruce McCandless Veterans Community Living Center in Florence, Colorado. Open to current Colorado residents only. Shiftwork includes day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Anticipated start 5/2026, end 1/2027 (may vary).
Duties
Prepare soups, gravies, sauces, breads, entrées, sides, desserts, pastries, salads, and modified diet items as directed.
Set up and serve steamtable, room trays, and ensure accuracy of therapeutic diets.
Check food temperatures, maintain temperature charts and meal count tallies.
Serve and prepare beverages, maintain kitchen work area, restock supplies.
Sanitize kitchen and dining room areas, sweep floors, wash pots and pans, empty trash.
Attend mandatory and non‑mandatory in‑services and ongoing training programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to assigned work.
Preferred Qualifications
Food certification(s).
Cooking experience.
Experience in a long‑term care environment.
Team‑work skills.
Detail‑oriented.
Conditions of Employment
Full background check: CBI name check, fingerprint, court database, Medicare fraud database, reference checks, license verification, drug screening.
Must pass TB test.
State of Colorado residency required at time of application and during employment.
Valid, non‑restricted Colorado driver’s license required for positions within 30 miles of the state border.
