The Homelake Veterans Center at Homelake is a state-owned skilled nursing facility and domiciliary dedicated to serving veterans.

This position will receive a short‑staffing temporary pay differential of 4% from July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.

Job Overview

The Client Care Aide (CNA) provides basic hands‑on patient/resident care in a safe, clean, infection‑controlled environment. Responsibilities include bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, skin care, range of motion, positioning, ambulating, transferring, toileting, feeding, transportation, basic assessments (vital signs, blood pressures, weights, etc.) and charting/documenting. The role is fully operational, performing the full range of client aide tasks and problem‑solving. A Colorado CNA certification is required and must remain in good standing.

Responsibilities

Perform basic nursing care: bathing, feeding, dressing, transferring, ambulating, positioning, lifting, range of motion, toileting, and skin care.

Ensure resident safety using correct lifting techniques and monitoring the environment.

Conduct basic resident assessments such as weights, bowel and bladder incontinence, intake and output, and vital signs.

Record hall‑sheet data each shift and maintain infection control practices.

Communicate changes in resident condition to RN’s and LPN’s.

Maintain therapeutic milieu through interpersonal skills and environmental monitoring.

Care for equipment: clean oxygen concentrators, refill oxygen tanks, disinfect tubs and showers, change lift batteries.

Transport residents for medical appointments in state vehicles when needed.

Attend educational training, online courses, and staff meetings to stay current on techniques and policies.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Current and active Certified Nurse Assistant license.

CPR certification.

Valid Colorado Driver’s License (non‑restricted).

Valid BLS Healthcare Provider Card.

Vaccinations as required by state and facility.

State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.

Ability to work shift patterns including weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and days.

Preferred: One year of related experience; experience as LPN; prior guest or senior health‑care experience.

Education / Licensure / Certification / Experience

High school diploma or GED.

One year of experience in a related occupational field.

Substitutions: Valid CNA certification substitutes for high school diploma; valid LPN license substitutes for experience requirement.

Conditions of Employment

Direct care to vulnerable adults (CAPS check required).

Motor vehicle check.

May require on‑call status per pay plan.

Travel and transportation of residents in state vehicles may be required.
