Construction Industry - Controller Opportunity
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 per year
We are seeking a Controller with a solid background in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have experience with WIP reporting in the construction industry, as well as leadership skills.
Responsibilities
Own the preparation of recurring financial reports and support periodic tax filings and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Oversee day-to-day accounting activity including ledger maintenance, collections tracking, and outgoing payments.
Partner cross-functionally to track project-based financials and support close cycles with accurate cost and revenue recognition.
Lead the close process end-to-end, ensuring alignment with standard accounting practices and internal governance.
Act as a point of contact for audit-related requests and documentation.
Manage and mentor a small team, providing guidance, oversight, and performance feedback.
Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, including related reporting.
Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts, identifying trends and explaining financial performance to stakeholders.
Support ad hoc financial and operational initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Several years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including some level of team leadership.
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience with WIP reporting in the construction industry is required.
Strong Excel capabilities and comfort working within accounting/ERP systems.
Exposure to mid-market accounting platforms or similar tools is a plus.
Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus, not a requirement.
Some initial regional travel will be required on a monthly basis.
