Part-Time Time Keeping and Reconciliation Specialist
Part of a leading engineering firm, P2S, looking for a dedicated Time Keeping and Reconciliation Specialist to join our Long Beach, CA team. Bring your payroll expertise to a fast‑paced environment and help us maintain high‑quality payroll processes.

Part‑Time (3 days in office, 8 hours per day)

Hybrid – in‑office and remote flexibility

Hourly Rate:
$25–$35 per hour
General Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge and responsibility for payroll, employee retirement, workers compensation, tax reporting, general ledger and labor laws.
Ensure payroll functions are carried out accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with legal requirements and sound financial management principles and practices.
Process accurate and timely bi‑weekly payroll for exempt and non‑exempt employees.
Prepare and process payroll‑related documents, off‑cycle payrolls, final checks, and manual adjustments.
Balance and reconcile payrolls, including garnishments and 401(k) administration.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax and wage and hour regulations.
Manage payroll tax filings, payments, and other required payroll reporting.
Partner with Accounting on monthly payroll close and payroll audits.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and 401(k) questions.
Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficiencies.
Acquire and apply in‑depth knowledge of complex payroll and related system functions.
Perform other payroll‑related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
High‑school graduation. Coursework in accounting or financial record keeping at an accredited institution is desirable. Equivalent experience in a payroll specialist role is also considered.
Minimum 2 + years of payroll experience in a fast‑paced, multi‑state environment.
Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and wage and hour regulations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism.
Proven ability to collaborate across HR and Accounting teams.
Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and keyboarding; ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
