Event Planning Assistant I
Location: Athens Area, University of Georgia, Department of Poultry Science, College of Agricultural Sciences.
Position Summary
This individual will provide administrative support for the Department of Poultry Science, assisting Extension faculty and staff in outreach efforts and event planning and coordination. Duties include clerical support, financial assistance, and execution of Extension conferences, workshops, and other events.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide clerical support: drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing files.
Assist with accounting tasks: reimbursement requests, travel & payment requests, marketplace deposits.
Plan and coordinate Extension conferences and workshops: registration, payments, vendor coordination, catering.
Support youth poultry judging events: travel planning, rental car arrangements, event logistics.
Assist with expositions and fairs: venue booking, booth setup, volunteer staffing, event execution.
Provide fiscal support: expense reconciliation, travel authorizations, reimbursement, financial reports.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Event planning and coordination experience.
Knowledge of conference planning and post‑event follow‑up.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
Experience in an office setting.
Strong organizational skills and discretion with confidential material.
Independent judgment.
Physical Demands
Driving as needed.
Lifting up to 40 pounds.

Position Title: Event Planning Assistant I
Work Schedule: Mon – Fri 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, overtime, occasional weekends as needed.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
FLSA: Non‑Exempt.
