
Pyrometry Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated pyrometry technician to work as part of our quality assurance team in maintaining and enhancing our rigorous standards for aerospace manufacturing. The Pyrometry Technician will own the day to day pyrometry operation for the Downers Grove Facility by conducting temperature measurement and analysis tasks, ensuring the accurate measurement and monitoring of high‑temperature processes to maintain quality control and compliance with industry standards. The technician will work closely with engineering and quality assurance teams to facilitate optimal operations and improve thermal applications.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate scheduling of monthly outside pyrometry calibration services
Review and maintain documentation from outside calibration (temperature uniformity surveys, thermocouples, test instruments, etc.)
Maintain documentation from internal system accuracy tests
Perform daily review of electronic records for compliance of heat treat processes
Review and sign off calibration certifications for all Nadcap related gauges (hardness testers, timers, PH meters, conductivity testers, etc.)
Maintain calibration of heat treat related devices (dew point meters, 3‑pt analyzers, O2 probes, etc.) by requesting RMAs, placing purchase requests, shipping devices, and reviewing certifications
Provide ownership of periodic testing requirements in the heat treat department by ensuring tests are being performed, performing the required testing, and/or reviewing certifications
Create, review and update work instructions as needed for areas of responsibility
Work with the maintenance team to maintain inventory of thermocouples and submit purchase requisitions when needed
Support quality and engineering with new processes or product testing within the heat treat department
Cross‑train with metallurgical technician to perform metallurgical inspection and chemical testing as needed
Other duties as needed
Preferred Experience
Manufacturing environment
2–5 years’ experience
Working in a Nadcap accredited facility
Pyrometry, AMS 2750
Heat treat equipment
Metallurgical lab inspection or other laboratory settings
Calibration certification review
