Advanced Manufacturing Technician / Shop Lead

Location: Eagan, MN | Contract to Hire | $33–$38/hour
4‑day work week (Mon – Thurs, 7:00 am – 5:30 pm)
Summary
Seeking a hands‑on, experienced Manufacturing Technician / Shop Lead to support production and development projects in a custom fabrication environment. This role is ideal for a confident, “lead from the front” individual who can troubleshoot issues, guide others, and help maintain workflow in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented shop.
Responsibilities
Lead daily shop activities and help drive production flow to meet deadlines
Operate and train others on shop equipment (chop saw, drill press, grinders, etc.)
Perform hands‑on assembly, fabrication support, and troubleshooting
Assist with machine setup, maintenance, and process improvements
Read and interpret shop prints and measurements for accurate builds
Support final inspection, packaging, and shipment preparation
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Communicate effectively with team members and leadership on production needs
Qualifications
Experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment
Prior lead or supervisory experience (formal or informal)
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving mindset
Ability to work independently while supporting team dynamics
Comfortable working in a hands‑on, fast‑paced shop setting
Preferred Skills
Aluminum welding experience
Electrical wiring or basic controls experience
Forklift experience
Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
