Role Overview
Knack Works, a Jacobs Company, is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Mid‑Level to Senior Systems Administrator to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of our infrastructure in the Chantilly, VA office. The role is ideal for someone with hands‑on experience managing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, servers, networks, and IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and reliable operation.
Duties/Task And Responsibilities
Proficient with Windows systems
Manage complex Active Directory environments, focusing on cross‑domain trust relationships, Global Catalog replication, and centralized Group Policy Management
Manage systems hardware and software infrastructure for both on‑prem and in the cloud
Provide hardware and software support for users, customers, and personnel
Collaborate with a team of engineers to design, implement and test features and functionality to support Knack Works’ high‑performance computing products
Support the development of system documentation
Develop and define techniques and tools to support the most efficient solution to meet program needs
Maintain and provide technical expertise in all areas of hardware, software and networking
Troubleshoot systems, performance, and security issues
Perform hardware and software installation, cabling coordination, and basic networking
Follow change management and implementation best practices
Collaborate with systems, security, and support teams as needed
Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, C#, C++, XML, JSON, etc.)
Required Qualifications
5–10 years of hands‑on Windows Server OS system administration experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
A current active TS with SCI eligibility and willingness to take a polygraph exam
Ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ CE certification within the first 6 months of employment
Core Competencies
Windows OS
Installation and implementation of hardware, software, and networking equipment
Familiarity with common hardware vendors (e.g., HP, Dell) and cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation
Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and analytical skills
Good communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in a team environment
Experience with LAN/WAN operations and protocols
Experience working in development and operational environments
Desired Requirements
VMware vSphere configuration and maintenance experience
Validity of a TS/SCI with Poly
Existing CompTIA Security+ CE certification
System monitoring tools experience
Linux OS experience
Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or similar)
Experience working in an enterprise or multi‑site environment

Base salary range for this position is $130,000.00 to $180,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
