Part-Time Maintenance Assistant

Old Main Village Senior Living community is looking for a Part‑time Maintenance Assistant to join their operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with general repairs in the building, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical tasks.
Maintain exterior areas such as landscaping, parking lots, walkways, and common outdoor spaces by trimming, sweeping, and performing routine upkeep.
Ensure maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
Coordinate daily maintenance services with departments when performing routine assignments in common living areas.
Ensure maintenance supplies are replenished in work areas as needed and keep supervisor informed of supply needs.
Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from supervisor as outlined in established maintenance policies and procedures.
Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, sweeping, etc., as necessary.
Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work, in accordance with established procedures.
Service heating and cooling units/systems as specified by the manufacturer and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Attend and participate in service training programs to meet state and federal requirements.
Safety and Sanitation
Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services.
Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks or at the end of the workday.
Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
Qualifications
Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
Capability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Capacity to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile individuals within the facility.
Proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Hours & Compensation
Wage: $16–$17 per hour, based on experience. Part‑time, day shift with weekend and on‑call rotation, up to 20 hours per week with shift flexibility.
