
Senior Instructional Design Specialist

Overview The Senior Instructional Design Specialist is a highly experienced professional responsible for leading the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of complex, high-impact learning solutions that drive organizational performance. Serves as a strategic consultant, applying advanced knowledge of instructional design methodologies, learning science, and emerging technologies to solve significant business challenges through learning interventions. Provides support, team leadership, mentors junior teammates, manages relationships with senior stakeholders, and champions best practices across the Learning & Development (L&D) function.
Responsibilities Content Development: Designs and develops instructional materials for various delivery methods, including e-learning courses, virtual instructor-led training (VILT), in-person workshops, and blended learning solutions. Creates and maintains project documentation, including design documents, storyboards, and scripts.
Collaboration and Needs Analysis: Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), project managers, and other stakeholders to gather content, identify learning objectives, and ensure accuracy and relevance of training materials.
Evaluation and Revision: Assists in the evaluation of training effectiveness by collecting feedback, analyzing data, and making recommendations for revisions and improvements.
Research and Best Practices: Stays current with new trends, technologies, and best practices in instructional design, adult learning theory, and educational technology.
Performs other duties as assigned

Wage Range: $82,730.00 - $124,090.00 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience
Qualifications Education
Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field required.
Experience
5+ years providing instructional design and work experience in a medium to large organization required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advance skills in E-Learning Development with industry-leading authoring tools (Articulate Storyline 360 and/or Adobe Captivate). Expertise in scenario-based learning, simulations, and advanced variable functionality. High proficiency with graphic design & multimedia/video editing. Familiar with various Learning Management Systems (LMS). Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite. Excellent presentation skills for small or large groups. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Ability to balance projects and change management. Ability to consult with senior business leaders, identify non-training solutions when appropriate, and align learning strategy to key business performance indicators (KPIs).
Licenses and Certifications
Instructional Design, e-learning development, or a related field (e.g., CPLP - Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) required. Advanced certification in a core ID competency (e.g., Design Thinking, Performance Consulting) is required. Portfolio Management Professional (PMP) is required.
