Job Title: Field Technician
If you have some electrical education or experience, Southern Power Systems is allowing individuals to gain on-site experience as a field technician. You might start out as an assistant to a more experienced field technician and progress as your abilities improve. Southern Power Systems offers on-the-job training, and specific courses to help you get qualified.

Key Responsibilities/Duties
Troubleshooting, testing, repairing and servicing electrical equipment
Providing service and customer support during field visits
Managing on-site installation, repair, maintenance and testing
Diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions
Producing detailed service reports
Documenting processes
Operating vehicles and machinery in a safe manner
Following company procedures and protocols
Cooperating with technical teams and sharing information across the organization
Making appropriate recommendations and briefing on repairs, diagnostics and equipment specifications
Building positive relationships with customers
Working with products that cannot be easily transported because of their size or link to other systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
Ability to stand on your feet up to 8 hours a day
Great communication skills to work with customers
Amazing problem solving skills
Ability to diagnose problems with equipment
Great mechanical aptitude
Ability to communicate in English
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
High school diploma, GE, HiSET or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
A technical degree is preferable
3 years of related experience
Certifications and Licenses
A valid Driver's license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly, independently, safely lift and carry objects up to 5 feet long and weighing up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds occasionally, climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis, stand, walk, talk, see (20/20 vision naturally or corrected), hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities.
Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including excessive heat and cold, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes, oils, wear a portable respirator.
Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new construction worksite
(i.e. uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, construction debris and poor lighting).
Some positions in this classification may be on 24-hour call out for emergency situations.
Candidates will be required to pass initial screenings and maintain active status:
