Overview
Title : Project Accountant
Location : Schaumburg, IL
Assignment Type : Full-Time
Compensation : $70,000-$80,000 a year depending on relevant experience
Benefits : This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Responsibilities
Track, analyze, and report on project costs, budgets, and forecasts
Monitor project financial performance and identify variances
Prepare and issue client invoices based on contract terms (time & materials, fixed fee, etc.)
Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards
Review and approve project-related expenses and time entries
Reconcile project accounts and resolve discrepancies
Assist with project setup, including budget creation and system configuration
Support month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting
Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial alignment and profitability
Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies, and contractual requirements
Prepare financial reports and dashboards for leadership review
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in project or cost accounting
Strong understanding of revenue recognition and job costing
Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Viewpoint Vista, SAP, Oracle)
