
Mechanical Plumbing Technician

Experience:
3+ years working with mechanical fluid systems in an industrial or commercial setting
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certificates or an associate degree are a plus
Position Summary
The Mechanical Technician will support assembly, integration, and testing activities for next‑generation laser and electro‑optical systems. This role is hands‑on, fast‑moving, and ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and thrives in a dynamic engineering environment.
Responsibilities
Manage daily tasks and priorities with moderate supervision to meet project timelines
Receive, inspect, and organize mechanical and plumbing components
Install and integrate mechanical cooling systems using both custom and off‑the‑shelf hardware
Use hand and power tools to build assemblies from engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs
Prepare and assemble plumbing components for pressure testing and chiller system operation
Perform maintenance, reconfiguration, and troubleshooting of fluid systems
Replace filters, pumps, fittings, and other components as needed
Maintain cleanliness standards, including work in clean‑room environments
Support rapid‑turn solutions as requirements evolve
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality workmanship
Experience with stainless‑steel tube bending and quick‑disconnect tubing assemblies (highly preferred)
Familiarity with NPT, BSPP, compression fittings, and o‑ring seals for water or gas systems
Experience with chillers, pumps, and industrial filtration systems (highly desired)
Ability to stay composed and collaborative in a fast‑changing, occasionally high‑pressure environment
Comfortable using a wide range of shop tools and mechanical equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving ability, and willingness to develop creative solutions
Safety‑first mindset and understanding of safe mechanical system operation
Experience with high‑power laser systems is a plus

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Longmont, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr.
