Position Summary
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will play a critical role in organizing, planning, and supervising daily production and packaging operations to achieve production objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for assigning tasks to personnel, implement corrective actions where necessary, optimize production processes to maximize output, and partner with internal teams to drive the highest quality and safety standards in daily operations.

Job Duties

Manage, organize, and delegate daily production and packaging activities to achieve department goals, meet customer needs and to minimize wasted labour hours and raw materials.

Ensure personnel have the necessary tools and resources to assemble and set-up production and packaging line machines and equipment.

Work closely with production management to identify continuous improvements and cost reduction measures in production and packaging processes.

Train new and existing employees to ensure the highest standards in production operations.

Escalate issues to internal stakeholders, provide recommendations and implement corrective actions.

Conduct visual inspections of equipment and monitor production start-up and product changeovers.

Work with maintenance personnel to resolve line breakdowns and equipment issues.

Lead boil-out procedure including proper handling of chemicals and ensuring safety of all staff.

Partner with QA to perform various quality, measurement, and density tests to meet production specifications.

Meet production deadlines and productivity targets set by the management team.

Work closely with internal teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve departmental issues.

Generate and maintain department records, reports, and trackers.

Assist with the development of new processes and SOPs including but not limited to collecting samples and gathering data to support new product development work.

Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback and coaching and invest in development of staff.

Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMPs), facility cleanliness, personal hygiene and machine sanitation when working with food products.

Follow all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality and Operational procedures (SOPs) as defined in NMF’s Quality Management System

Consistently monitor and enforce procedures as per NMF’s Quality Management System and set an example for Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices

Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Position Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Post secondary education is considered a bonus.

Minimum 3 years experience working in food production, processing, or equivalent industry.

Previous experience working in a line lead, team lead or equivalent role.

Knowledge of Food Safety, GMP and HACCP standards are an asset.

Forklift certification or training required.

Valid First Aid certificate considered an asset.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required (MS Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook).

Effective communication skills and ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

Strong time management and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.

Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve production issues promptly.

High attention to detail, meticulous, and able to maintain a high level of quality.

Adaptable, resourceful, and willing to learn.

Core Working Hours

Rotating shift schedule - availability to work early morning and swing shift required.

Schedules may change from time-to-time.

Weekend work, overtime & statutory holiday hours may be required.

Working Conditions

The Production Supervisor will work on-the-floor and in an office setting.

Weekend work, overtime and statutory holiday hours may be required.

Long periods of standing, sitting and bending required for the role.

Frequent lifting of up to 50+ lbs.

Will be exposed to a noisy and wet environment with varying temperatures.

Allergens present – e.g. soy, wheat, etc.

Required to wear PPE such as safety boots, hair nets, lab coats and more.

No jewelry allowed on the production floor.

Compensation range for this position in Stanwood, Washington: $27 to $ 35 per hour. The compensation depends on qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, accrued paid time off plan annually, personal medical and parental leave, paid holidays, and family care benefits.
