Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Family Law Paralegal who can immediately step into a busy caseload of contested matters. This is a senior‑level role for someone who is proactive, highly organized, and able to work independently without constant oversight. You must be able to think on your feet, manage competing deadlines, and support attorneys in a fast‑moving litigation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a high‑volume caseload of contested family law matters from intake through trial preparation
Draft and prepare legal documents including:
Complaints, Answers, and Counterclaims
Case Information Statements (CIS)
Motions, Certifications, and Proposed Orders
Discovery requests and responses
Handle all aspects of discovery, including document collection, organization, and production
Communicate directly with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
Track deadlines and ensure strict compliance with NJ court rules and filing requirements
E‑file through NJ eCourts and manage attorney calendars
Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and assist with hearings and trial preparation
Maintain organized, accurate, and up‑to‑date case files
Billing & Case Management
Accurately track and bill time using Clio
Maintain detailed, contemporaneous time entries
Support efficient case management and workflow systems within Clio
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of New Jersey family law paralegal experience
Significant experience handling contested litigation matters
Strong working knowledge of NJ family court procedures and eCourts
Proven experience using Clio for case management and billing
Ability to draft high‑quality legal documents with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple urgent deadlines
Excellent communication skills, including with high‑conflict clients
Ability to work independently and anticipate attorney needs
