Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced
Senior Electrical Field Services Specialist
to perform complex startup, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium and low-voltage electrical power systems. This includes transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear/switchboards, protective relays, motor control centers, VFDs, cabling, metering equipment, and backup power supplies. The role will service sites throughout the Louisiana area.
Responsibilities
Lead installation, startup, inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance on power distribution systems such as: switchgear, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, motor control centers, and surge protection devices.
Perform power monitoring, power quality assessments, vibration analysis, metering, battery testing/maintenance, and protective relay testing.
Provide emergency support and troubleshooting for electrical distribution systems, including third-party equipment.
Execute complex retrofits, service upgrades, modifications, and reconditioning work.
Provide onsite technical guidance for system design, development, and maintenance.
Conduct detailed site surveys and assist in creating technical installation plans.
Train facility personnel on system operation, inspection, and preventative maintenance.
Mentor and provide technical support to junior technicians and internal teams.
Complete detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed.
Maintain and manage specialized electrical testing equipment, tools, and calibration instruments.
Support estimating activities including labor, materials, logistics, and proposal development.
Review drawings, schematics, and task plans; provide technical leadership during execution.
Respond to emergency service needs when required.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or state-recognized GED
5 years of experience in Electrical Field Services to perform complex installs, startup, commissioning, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of medium and low voltage electrical power systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protective relays, motor control centers, VFDs, industrial automation, smart grids, cable, metering, backup power supplies, etc.
At least 3-5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits, transformers, switchgear
3+ years of experience performing electrical testing (primary injection, resistance, dielectric, thermal scans)
3+ years of experience performing advanced testing with AC/DC high potential, TTR, power factor, and related methods
Ability to interpret protective coordination studies and configure/test relays
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, bills of material, and power system studies
Experience commissioning, testing, and maintaining medium and low-voltage distribution systems / electrical power systems
Familiarity with ANSI, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA standards
Ability to lift and move up to 50-75 pounds unassisted
Valid driver’s license with acceptable record
Prefer NETA Technician Certification – Level II or III or Level IV
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in a technical discipline
5+ years of experience in field electrical testing, commissioning, or power distribution maintenance
