Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
to maintain and repair light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
Adjust and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starter, alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutch, and differential systems.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments.
Road test vehicles to verify proper function after repairs.
Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and determine the most accurate solutions using sound judgment.
Independently manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
Prioritize tasks and allocate time effectively when managing multiple assignments.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
Document work according to company standards, upload pictures and details to Repair Orders (RO) using the company iOS device and TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation in a timely manner.
Maintain high productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
Source parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
Communicate with management and support staff via email or phone for repair estimate approvals and purchase order information.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field (additional or higher education and 5 years’ experience are also acceptable).
Possess and supply hand tools necessary for job duties.
Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
Must complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or meet the medical card requirement).
Have a valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining or obtain a DOT physical if less than 4 months is remaining.
Be at least 21 years old in accordance with interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
Hold a valid driver’s license, maintain a Driver Qualification File, and have a safe driving record.
Authorised to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
