CRANE OPERATOR SUPERVISOR I

Summary

You will serve as a Crane Operator Supervisor I in the Crane Operations Division, Public Works Department Norfolk of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties

Plan, direct, control, organize, and coordinate crane/rigging operations.
Plan the most efficient use of equipment, materials, and personnel to meet workload and completion dates and ensure materials are available.
Consult with other supervisors on manpower, equipment needs, and technical problems to avoid delays.
Review quality and quantity of work performed by spot checks, particularly where unusual scope, costs, or public relations issues exist.
Modify work plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to reduce or control costs and accomplish the work effectively.
Inspect shop premises and field projects periodically to ensure conformity with best practices for preventative maintenance, personnel safety, storage of materials, and security of equipment and materials.
Qualifications

Has appropriate knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying, evaluated on the basis of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements.
Screen-out element: must be able to plan daily or project work schedules and the use of various weight‑handling equipment, including floating cranes, mobile cranes, construction equipment, trailers, and trucks.
Must plan use of heavy equipment, rigging personnel, facilities, and materials on a daily basis.
Must establish deadlines and priorities based on general work schedules, methods and policies pertaining to customer demand, material availability and manpower.
Must be able to recommend changes to priorities/work sequences and make minor deviations as needed to overcome problems such as equipment failure and material delays.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs.
Additional Information

This position is subject to an uncommon tour of duty that may include nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
