Job Summary
The Gas/Diesel Mechanic Level A is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, comprehensive mechanical and electrical repairs on commercial trucks and box trucks. This role ensures fleet and customer vehicle safety, reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance. Opportunity to use exceptional skills and knowledge to support overall business goals while mentoring and developing other technicians. Will work very close with management team to provide insight on overall shop operations.
Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance (inspections, lubrication, fluid/filter changes) per standards
Inspect and repair clutch, brake, and 5th wheel systems
Diagnose and repair basic HVAC systems
Perform steering and suspension repairs and component replacements
Assist with drivetrain repairs (drivelines, U-joints, differentials)
Complete safety and emissions inspections as authorized
Accurately document work on repair orders and reports
Safely operate tools and diagnostic equipment
Follow DOT regulations and company safety policies
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications
3-5 years of diesel technician experience (light- to heavy-duty trucks)
Ability to perform preventative maintenance independently
Strong knowledge of brakes, clutches, drivetrain, suspension, and electrical systems
Experience with wheel end repairs and box truck electrical systems
Ability to perform OEM brake jobs and major repairs
Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred; training available)
Ability to lift 50 lbs and push/pull up to 75 lbs
High school diploma or GED preferred; ASE certifications a plus
Must pass DOT drug screenings
