Materials Scheduling Manager
The Materials Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading the Quartz BU's Scheduling function across its three U.S. plants. The main deliverables are improved OTIF (On Time in Full) service, reduced Days of Inventory (DOI), and reduced lead times. The role engages across the organization, including Commercial, ISR, Operations, Finance and Quality, to improve customer order execution in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
Responsibilities
Lead and provide oversight to scheduling team members across multiple product lines at three U.S. plants; serves as backup for all schedulers.
Track OTIF service performance, code misses accurately, and work with schedulers and operations to avoid misses. Lead continuous improvement efforts to improve overall OTIF.
Serve as primary point of contact for Production Planning and liaison with Commercial, Logistics and Manufacturing departments.
Expedite management of distressed orders, replacements, quick‑turn management, order swaps, and overall capacity management; update order status with ISR and follow up with planners on improvements.
Own supply‑chain responsibilities for new product introduction workflow, managing requests for raw/semi‑finished materials.
Review and publish lead times for respective product lines.
Attend plant meetings and Gemba walk to understand how scheduling can support operational plans and provide inputs to Site Leadership for continuous improvement.
Participate as a member of the campaign management team to address and implement new approaches.
Manage inventory of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods for the three plants.
Lead SAP management of all packaging materials, set safety‑stock levels and periodically review MRP/SAP parameters to ensure steady supply.
Identify capacity bottlenecks and work with Operations to develop mitigation plans.
Participate in supply meetings with Sales and Operations Team; lead additional planning meetings with Sales, Production, Logistics, Purchasing and Customer Service staff; lead furnace and tungsten planning meetings.
Develop detailed documentation of scheduling processes and move toward a common process using SAP tools and best practices.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or Business Administration
10+ years of experience in a Supply Chain, Commercial or Operations role
Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications
Excellent analytical skills and strong process mindset
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS)
Experience with supply‑chain facets such as planning, scheduling, logistics and purchasing
Experience with S-4 HANA and implementation experience
Six Sigma/Lean and continuous improvement exposure

Based in Newark, OH manufacturing site (4 days per week onsite) with 10%–20% travel to Willoughby and Highland Plant, Ohio.
