Job Description
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, the English Learner (EL) District Facilitator would oversee, coordinate, and lead the EL teachers and paraprofessional staff to ensure district consistency and availability for any student within the district that would need EL academic services and supports as part of the district‑wide framework of academic services for students that are within sub‑groups determined through state and federal qualifiers. This position would provide professional development in the tiered levels of intervention within the MTSS framework and work directly with district leadership and district continuous improvement teams to provide specific services and support to help EL students within all levels of EL services. It will also ensure all local, state and federal data collection and testing are implemented and reported with fidelity and integrity.
This position is for the 2026‑2027 school year, with 210 work days.
Description:
Work directly with students, families, and outside agencies to support EL services
Create and implement processes to best screen and place newly enrolled students
Run equitable intake meetings
Perform all WIDA compliance testing and reporting
Evaluate and purchase materials for the EL department
Communicate with EL families as a whole and independently regarding programming and services
Advise and develop district EL delivery and design for increased achievement of EL students
Maintain appropriate student records for all EL programs
Collect, analyze and communicate student achievement data
Plan and facilitate professional development of all personnel in best practices for English Learners
Assist with the development and management of budgets for all EL and Migrant programs
Serve as the district liaison with state and local EL agencies for reporting, staff training, and program coordination
Serve as the liaison between the district and postsecondary institutions to seek opportunities and programs to ensure high school graduation and to provide postsecondary options for EL and bilingual students
Assist human resources in hiring and monitoring qualified paraprofessional staff for programming
If grant or federal funding is utilized for programming or staffing, ensure all compliance requirements are met (i.e., Title III)
If necessary, complete required reporting and monitoring of federal and state grant funding required by State and Federal auditors
All other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
EL Teachers and EL Paraprofessionals
Qualification Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Michigan Teaching certificate and/or Michigan Administrative certificate
NS or YA‑YT endorsement required
Possession of a master’s degree in K‑12 Administration, curriculum or TESOL preferred
Experience working with students in the K‑12 system
Experience or extensive knowledge of laws and initiatives related to Teaching English Speakers of Other Languages, MTSS, and Revised School Code
Experience developing and delivering professional development preferred
Excellent communication, both verbally and written
Ability to mentor staff in the development of instructional programs and strategies
Possess strong group process and collaboration skills
