Mass General Brigham seeks a Unit Coordinator for Orthopedics & Urology at Ellison 6, a thirty‑six‑bed adult inpatient unit. The unit serves post‑surgical orthopedic and urologic patients and pre‑surgical patients from ED, front door or clinical admissions in a fast‑paced environment.
Schedule
24 hours | Part‑time
(2) 12‑hour night shifts
Every Saturday and Sunday | 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
Job Summary
Provides administrative support to unit‑based and hospital‑wide clinicians and staff, acting as a liaison among patients, visitors, and clinicians.
Organizes priorities, completes tasks on time, and manages confidential patient information.
Partners with nursing to coordinate day‑to‑day patient flow, communicating admissions, discharges, and transfers to key players.
Provides outstanding service for every customer interaction.

Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities)
Performs clerical duties to assist in the general administration of the floor or unit.
Greets and interacts with patients, families, visitors and coworkers professionally.
Receives, prioritizes, organizes and manages information at the central nursing station.
Schedules consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport to other departments.
Enters accurate and timely information in the electronic medical record for admissions, discharges and transfers.
Contacts ancillary service departments for equipment, services and supplies; tracks status and location.
May assist manager with payroll duties or staff scheduling; may supervise unit secretaries.
Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree related field preferred.
Experience : Customer Service experience in related or unrelated field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency with office procedures and equipment (filing, copying, scanning, printing, faxing).
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
Ability to use phone system.
Time‑management skills for self and others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
