Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Mobile, Alabama.

Benefits

Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days

Schedule: Monday–Friday Weekends OFF

Hours: First Shift 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)

Basic tools (required)

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) (required)

Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

Ability to drive Ryder vehicles and obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass Ryder Drug Test

Pass DOT physical

Pass Ryder road test

Pass Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections and repairs

Conduct preventive maintenance

Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers when applicable

Identify root cause of failures and perform necessary repairs

Replace defective components as instructed

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation

Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Carry out other support duties as required, including Service Island support
