Special Education Early Childhood Coordinator
Position begins with the 2026‑27 School Year.
MSAD #51 is seeking a professional to serve as our Coordinator for special education services for ages 3 and 4. This position will provide leadership and consultation to stakeholders within our schools; lead the assessment and transition processes; ensure legal compliance; design and lead professional development; and foster strong instructional skills in a play‑based learning environment. This is a teacher contract with a possibility of additional time during the summer, beginning July 1 2026.
Responsibilities include:
Leadership and consultation to stakeholders.
Lead assessment and transition processes.
Ensure legal compliance.
Design and lead professional development.
Foster strong instructional skills in a play‑based learning environment.
Qualifications
Individual must possess a Master’s degree; a valid Maine Department of Education teaching certificate with a 282 (Birth‑age 5) Teacher: Child with Disabilities endorsement, although a 035 – Assistant Administrator of Special Education or 030 – Administrator of Special Education is preferred; 5 or more years of experience with children in early childhood education or early elementary school; additional experience with special education, knowledge of the CDS system, and/or school leadership is preferred.
