Mechanical Engineer

Coordinate and execute technical documentation dealing with engineering change orders, procedures, process designs, workflow, bills of materials, documentation audits, quality/layout documentation, product improvement, or new products; provide engineering product support, and ensure that quality products are manufactured. Take part in subsystems product functionality, improve quality, simplify manufacturing, and reduce costs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Support sustaining engineering for current products, including documentation updates, cost reduction, and product improvements.

Maintain and revise engineering documentation (3D models, drawings, ECOs, BOMs, DFMEAs, processes, and procedures).

Contribute to mechanical development for product enhancements and select new products, including technology evaluation, component/subsystem specs, testing, and qualification.

Work with the Engineering Lab to plan and run tests, analyze results, and provide clear written conclusions.

Apply design-for-manufacture and assembly concepts to simplify manufacturing and improve quality, especially for high-volume injection-molded and cast parts.

Utilize CAD (SolidWorks, etc.), PLM/PDM, and MRP/ERP systems to manage product data and ensure accurate configuration control.

Use structured problem-solving tools (fault tree analysis, VAVE, etc.) to resolve product and process issues.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain) to implement engineering changes and ensure quality products are manufactured.

Perform documentation audits and support quality/layout documentation to meet internal standards.

Perform additional duties and projects assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related Manufacturing/Science discipline preferred; an associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.

1-3 years of experience working in a professional engineering environment is a plus (Co-op experience can be considered).

Hands‑on experience with 3D & 2D CAD.

Familiarity with PLM/PDM / MRP/ERP systems is a bonus.

Knowledge of design practices with manufacturing techniques/processes in mind.

Experience using structured problem‑solving & value‑analysis methods (e.g., DFMEA, fault tree analysis, VAVE).

Self‑directed, data‑driven, & process‑oriented, with strong collaboration, verbal, & written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Office environment; prolonged periods of sitting at a desk/ working on a computer; Able to always lift 30 lbs.
