National Salvage and Service is seeking to hire a

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

which is based out of our office in Bloomington, Indiana.

National Salvage & Service is a sustainable company, we recycle nearly all the material we salvage. This practice not only keeps these materials out of landfills, improving the environment; it also saves our customers significant amounts of money, reducing the cost of a job and adding to profit.

National is a leading wholesale provider of used railroad ties and new railroad ties and other treated hardwood railroad track products, as well as recycled utility poles.

Job Functions

Work on heavy equipment, trucks, and service vehicles

Maintain knowledge and adherence to all safety policies

Conduct vehicle/equipment inspections and diagnostic tests; identify and resolve worn, broken, or damaged parts

Identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system problems and consider possible solutions.

Maintain vehicles/equipment using preventive maintenance procedures that meets or exceeds industry standards

Maintain shop equipment per operating instructions; troubleshooting and repairing or coordinate repairs; maintaining supplies

Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment

Greases, oils, and lubricates components during preventive maintenance service

Works under limited supervision

Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company Policy, and performs all work per established safety procedures

Qualifications

Deep working knowledge of Hydraulics and Diesel vehicles

Need experience using mig and stick welding processes

Must have skills in cutting with torches and plasma cutters

Minimum of 2 years of Diesel Mechanic Experience
